We sat down (well… kind of—he’s a little squirmy) with Rusty, our energetic September Pal of the Month, to get the inside scoop straight from the source. Here’s what he had to say:
Meet Rusty
Q: What’s your full name, and do you have any nicknames?
Rusty: Just Rusty, but my humans sometimes call me “Rusty-boy” or “Russ.” I answer to both, especially if treats are involved!
Q: When’s your birthday, and how do you celebrate?
Rusty: January 27, 2023! My birthday is always a blast—lots of love, attention, and of course, snacks!
Q: How did you become part of your family?
Rusty: I was adopted from a reputable breeder. My humans say it was love at first sight. I think they’re right… we’re a perfect team!
Rusty’s Personality
Q: How would you describe your personality in three words?
Rusty: Loving, happy-go-lucky, and energetic! (And maybe a little mischievous, if I’m being honest.)
Q: Do you have any funny habits or unique tricks?
Rusty: I’m basically a Velcro dog—I stick to anyone giving me affection. I can chug an entire water bowl in one shot, and I won’t stop letting you pet me. I also like to “cob” on the dogs I love—gentle nibbles that say, “You’re my friend!”
Favorite Things
Q: What’s your absolute favorite treat, toy, or activity?
Rusty: Bouncy and squeaky balls, bully sticks, and bike rides! Honestly, if it squeaks or bounces, I’m in heaven.
Life at PawHootz
Q: What’s your favorite part about spending time at PawHootz?
Rusty: Ear scratches, playtime with friends, and the pure joy of being surrounded by fun! I literally can’t contain my excitement when we pull into the parking lot.

Q: Anything else you’d like us to share?
Rusty: Just that I’m always ready for a new adventure, a new friend, or a new belly rub. Life’s better with love, play, and squeaky toys!
